I am looking to move over from Sony into a 1D Mark III. I was wondering if anyone knows is the Tokina 12-24mm f4 compatible with the Mark III. I am considering buying one as my WA lens. I have looked into this on my own but, haven't found a resource to confirm yea or nay. I believe the Canon EF-S lenses aren't compatible with the Mark III. I was wondering if this applies to some third party lenses, like the Tokina 12-24mm f4 specifically.
No, it's for APS-C sensor based bodies only. At the bottom of the 1st page, last bullet marker, the DPR review gives you your answer ... 'Designed for APS-C/DX format DSLRs only'
Since you are looking at Tokina, buy the Tokina 16-28 f/2.8. It is a high quality sharp lens, nearly as sharp as the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 Mark II and has less barrel distortion. It is designed for full-frame. I'm very pleased with mine.
