The seller has lots of feedback, but does not disclose his location within the U.S. Apparently they specialize in quilts and not cameras. Some misspelling in the add and unbelievable BIN prices are too good to be true. 1Ds MK III with 300mm f/2.8 for $2100 BIN Both ads do not show but one photo is another sign this auction stinks. Kind of strange.
The account was hacked.... The actual owner responded to a phishing email, asking him/her to update their account. By typing their actual password, they actually revealed it to the hacker. It happens on a regular basis and it is nothing new .
Explains everything. Listing looked very odd and asking all bidders to contact them before bidding to find out if they can ship to your location was another alarm.
No way was I about to bid, but just wanted to share this "to good to be true listing".

Yes, scam, he puts in an image hosting his email address and insists that you can only contact him by that email address and must not use ebay or paypal msg systems! Hides the email in a photo so that ebay doesn't automatically flag it as a scam.

Do you guys report these as fraudulent when you see them? I hope so. It takes about three clicks to do it.
Yeah it needs to be reported , but eBay in my experience are terrible at getting these listing removed . Even when a listing like these breaks their own rules (even if it was not a scam) by saying it wants to bypass the bidding process (which obviously bypasses the listing charges)
. . .eBay in my experience are terrible at getting these listing removed. . . .
My experience has differed. On the several occasions where I've reported similar apparent scams to eBay, the listings have been taken down within an hour or two.
Edit: I just reported the two listings--though I suspect I am not the first to do so. Betcha that within two hours, the listings will have been removed.
If anyone contacts to try to purchase, most likely you'll be asked to wire transfer money to a bank account somewhere. The bad part is eBay will then removed the listing and pretend it never happened.
There are also several other scammers offering canon super telephoto lenses at the moment. They all ask you to contact them outside eBay. I have reported them and contacted the genuine eBay account holders. Posting this to alert any FM'ers who might get caught by them

Ditto. I report these quite often and eBay quickly removes them. Any time a listing has the Seller asking all bidders to contact them before bidding, that is against eBay rules and is a scam. More people should report them instead of posting them on FM.
