Every Canon shooter knows what this lens can do. It has incredible colors and is one of the sharpest slr lenses out there. I've only had this about 3 years, using it sparingly for gymnastics, volleyball, and a few family portraits. I love this lens but I'm blown away by the Nikon D800E and am switching most of my gear to the dark side.
The lens is in excellent working condition. Autofocus is quiet and quick. Focus limiters and preset ring work perfectly.
There are lots of small scratches and smudges in the paint, notably on the tripod foot, collar knob, hood mount, name plate, and switch plate. This lens has a 'UC' date code so it is quite old. The leatherette bag for storage is heavily worn and is flaking apart.
The lens also has a greater than normal amount of dust inside. The dust all seems to be of the same type and located on the same element, either the 2nd or 3rd from the front. If you are handy at disassembling lenses it should be a quick fix. A local camera shop estimated $100-200 in labor to clean it. I never thought it effected image quality to have it cleaned. I'm most often shooting wide open, or close to it, where dust has negligible effect.
It sounds like a lot of negatives but the images out of it are still all stunning. I can shoot some samples if requested.

Late model version after the AF fix with serial number 572XXX. Works great. The AF is not as great at the new 1D X or even the 5DIII but absolutely better than the 1DIIN and 7D.
Has a few scratches in the typical places around the corners and on the base. With all original accessories and box. I'm not the original owner so I don't know the shutter count. I estimate I've put 150-200k on it in the past three years.

UV date code with 72mm Hoya circular polarizer LowePro lens case, hood, caps, box, pouch. Glass is perfect. One very small scratch on the body, a few marks on the hood.
I guess the new Sigma has really killed the resale value of this lens. I'll consider trades for a Canon 135/2 or a combination of Nikon 28/1.8G, Nikon 50 1.2 AiS, Samyang 24/1.4 for Nikon, cash.
