i was many of these wheels during my last trip to utah, arizona and nevada and i was wondering what they were
can you let me know? also, what are they called?
These wheels are part of an irrigation system which when water moves through the main pipe the wheels roll slowly forward or backward to water a field. This one, of course, is down for the winter.
Very nice capture. The subtle blending of snow and sky with the faintest hint of depth via the background silhouettes makes this a wonderful photo. Love it!
Wheel lines, worked on many...Bla.
The end is hooked to a hose with a main line of water.
In the morning you turn the water off, undo the fitting to let the water out then usually in the middle is a motor and gears you start to roll it to the next section. Hook the water up and turn it on. Really fun, especially when all the sprinklers aren't sitting upright, you have to go thru and adjust them and alot of the time and also have to straigthen the whole line up from one end to the other. Dam cows like rubbing on these also.
