p.1 #1 · How would you spend $1500?

No, I don't have $1500 to spend. I wish I did

I'm just curious to hear from some of you that have been in photography for awhile now. If you had photography experience, but were just getting started, what gear would you spend your $1500 on? Larger body cameras are preferred (xxD, etc). Type of photography is landscapes, portraits, and general photography. Used gear is ok too.

As for me, I have a 40d and a 24-105. The 40d is for sale tho. Wanna switch to the 50d.

5D, Contax Zeiss Distagon 28/2.8, Contax Zeiss Vario-Sonnar 35-70/3.4, three BP-511A batteries, two chargers, and a partridge in a pear tree.

P.S. just kidding about the bird - the rest is golden.

P.P.S. watch out for tricksey hobbits - I think they still use Polaroid cameras.

With $1500 you could buy a 60D and 15-85 IS USM and have change left over for happy hour. Or maybe a used S90 and a 3 day weekend in Vegas?

3 months ago I would have bought a 35L. Now maybe I'd buy the sigma 35, not sure. The 50L is also pretty appealing.

The above plus...get a grip, an extra battery or two, a few SD cards, a nice bag...and have eosfun

Nah, 70's fender stuff wasn't near as good as the 60's. even the 70's RI stuff isn't any good. Of course I'd need $1500x3 to get a 60's Tele.

I like Jim's suggestion.

If you don't want that, get a used 5D, some extra batteries, used 17-40, used 70-200 and a 50 1.8. Or a used 60D and sigma 30 1.4 and 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS

If you want newer, then go crop and you'll be fine: 60d/t4i, tamron 17-50, canon 85/1.8, used 430ex mark 1 flash

Otherwise, 5d classic, 24-105, used 430 flash

If limited at $1,500 and no more money to upgrade in a while, I'd probably go with either of these two options:

- 60D + 15-85mm + 430EX II
- 5D2 + 40mm + 430EX II

From the used market, of course.
