I hate to tell you this but that lens is actually outdated and no longer capable of delivering good photos with modern DSLRs. You better let me take that off your hands and properly dispose of it.
$415 is a great deal. When I see these they are around $700-$800
Same here. Craigslist is full of mediocre deals and folks trying to get away with what-not. Every once in awhile, a nice deal appears. I feel lucky that I stumbled upon it.
QUESTION: Should I send it for a CLA for good measure? The serial number indicates it's from the late 1990's, and I can see some dust inside (but nothing real ugly).

Thanks.
I'd say no unless theres something thats bothering you.
This was a sweet lens in the day on film....... but the nice thing about compatibility, is that I can shoot my 14-24 on the F100 as well..... and is even better!
yeah once in a while you find a great deal on CL. I just picked up a D3s for 2950. It only had 5200 shots on it and was like new. Met the guy face to face and he had everything including a Nikon bag that the local store he bought it from would have given him. I thought at first it was a scam until he gave me his number and agreed to meet. It just takes persistence and a little luck.
Sometimes you get lucky. I got a mint Leica M6TTL for way below what they normally sell for because the seller didn't want to pay the large consignment fees from listing it in a store.
