Invert the C-Channel, then copy the Y Channel to top layer and set to Overlay (GIMP). Did some wavelet noise cleaning in the sky area too.

Thought I would do another one. This image taken a little over a year ago (resized but EXIF intact). As for the rendered result, I did take some liberty and added some lighting/vignetting effects (just my prerogative).
