i got a full frame and didnt realize my Sigma 30mm f/1.4, wouldnt work with a full frame till i took the picture.. GRR hate the vignetting! so what lens would you recommend to replace it? i love the quality of the images the 30 mm puts out so i am very frustrated with this lens which is not exactly cheap, doesnt work with a full frame.
so something similar in price and quality and prime, low focal length 28-35mm?... any suggestions?

Sell or trade for the FF equivalent, the Sigma 50mm 1.4. People have posted focus issues, but they did the same for the 30mm, which I won the gamble on. I bought a 50mm recently on the B&S forum, came in yesterday, haven't had a chance to check it out. It was $330 shipped, but I found a few locally for $300-350 as well on CL. Just make sure to check it out and try to get the receipt for possibly adjustments or warranty. Or buy new, they have sales where it'll be in the ~$380 range.
We're telling you about the 50mm 1.4, because when you were shooting crop, it was 30mm x 1.6 crop = 48mm in FF. On FF, the 50mm will have the same FOV

Well it is a crop Lens . DC sigma lenses are crop only .
Now for your replacement.
The 30 on a crop very close to a 50 on a FF body . So the natural replacement would any of the 50's
Sigma do a 50/1.4 which is very good as long as you get one that focuses well

i have not tried on the full frame! hmmm thank you very much! i didnt realize it made that much a diffence on the full frame. it was on a cropped sensor when i tried it, and it was the 1.8 as well. thank you all for the input. and so quickly!

I'm sorry, I meant trade it in because they're very similarly priced on the used market. You can probably sell your used 30mm 1.4 and buy a used 50mm 1.4 at 0 loss. If you're patient, you may be able to make some money in fact.
You can sell to established people here in the B&S (~$25 one year subscription) or try locally (CL, FB, etc) or the dreaded eBay with fees and what not.

ok, so i will check out the 50 and 35.. i really appreciate the help. i was a little jaw dropped when i saw how dark the bignetting was with that lens... what a let down.

ok, I am going with the 50, the 35 is a bit out of my price range right now. :P boo.. looks like an awesome lens. i checked out examples of the 50, and it seems like a great lens as well!
