The rusty old Epson R800 photo printer died today. My main complaint was ink clogs. What can I replace it with for under $600? Looking for similar quality. Everything I see is multi-function. I only need a photo quality printer, not a scanner, etc.
Has Epson overcome their clogging problems? If they have, I will consider Epson, but have been looking at Canon.
Get one of those Canon 9000 printers you see on Craigslist all the time. People get them as a package deal when buying camera equipment and then sell the printer. I've seen them as low $175 brand new but they usually sell for around $250 on CL. They are a lot more new.
I gave up on Epson a while ago due to their clogs. Although I hear they have "fixed" that problem. I just order prints now from Mpix or Costco or whatever...no more fighting the printer for hours on end.

I don't belive there are any clogging problems with new Epson printers at all. My Epson 3880 have never had any ink cloggs. Not even when I went abroad for nearly a year without printing
Thanks, Lars and shmn. It's good to hear Epson has cured the clogging problem. That R800 had me really spooked about clogs.
One of the guys at my camera club has an Epson 3880. I love what that printer can do. Unfortunately, I don't want to live on Ramen for the next several months. I do like the 3000. Thanks for the tip.
