From what I've seen here, a lot of you guys are using Color Efex 4 and Silver Efex Pro 2 and other goodies from Nik Software. But from what I remember, I've never seen anyone debating Sharpener Pro 3's utility ! So

I'm using it with PS. Not every time but rather often

I rarely use it but have the Suite. I need more practice and testing to determine how well it works. When I look at sharpened versions on screen they always seem to end up with some busy looking artifacts that seem to relate to sharpening at micro level. I havent figured out how to mask that, or if it makes any difference in print. I suspect the later.
I do like the control point control.
Bottom line: I wouldnt buy it unless it is part of a suite. I am usually happy with LR and/or PS for global/selective sharpening.

Jforkner,do you really prefer Sharpener Pro 3 over Lightroom 4's sharpening capabilities ? I've never tried it for Raw files, only for Tiffs and jpegs in PS.

I have used it in the past but generally the inverted high-pass technique in Photoshop produces even better sharpening results in much quicker fashion without any additional financial cost.

I have it, used in extensively in the past, now use it only ocassionally to add some "Structure" to images that need a little pop. If you have PS, Smart Sharpen is all you really need, as long as you take the time to understand what it can do.

slight hijack:
anyone else see the busy, detailed sharpening artifacts on screen with Sharpener Pro?
I usually use settings of 100-120% adaptive sharpening, some bump in structure, local contrast, occ slight focus correction, then mask effects.

Keep in mind if you are pixel peeping your image can look "crunchy" on screen but will print just fine out of the printer. That is why Sharpener Pro gives you those different output options. Plus you have all those wonderful "Control points" to knock out the sky or non-texture areas.

I don't use LR; just PS CS6. I only use it on raw files before any other processing---that's how it was recommended somewhere I read. Anyway, I found the default setting a bit strong for my taste and typically set it for about 40%.
