hi all. just got a new website up and running. would love some feedback. there are a couple different sections under "works". anywho. hope this new year is wonderful for all. much love, david
Cool stuff here. I am totally starting two whole new websites myself, one just for the Landscape work and one for my wedding/portrait work. So I know the excitement and work that goes into creating the website.
I like the overall feel of what you got going. Under the works section though, I think you need some better directional controls to scroll the pictures horizontally. I figured it out by accident, but having some kind of arrows I think really would be helpful. Or having the mouse pointer change to the right arrow when it's on the right side, and change to the left arrow when it's on the left maybe?
thanks jim. let me know when you do...would love to see it. unfortunately i am not able to modify the scroll system that is one of the things i noticed as well. grrr. thanks!
For me:
1. Site takes too long to load.
2. Navigation is not intuitive.
3. Don't get the meaning of the headings under WORKS.
4. While I like the portraits on the home page, that all are posed the same doesn't speak to versatility---though that may be the point.
5. I like most of the PP, but using a similar technique on all the photos gives the whole site a dark and dreary mood. If that's what you were going for, you got it.
6. I think your images would have more impact to the viewer if seen separately, rather than in the middle of a string with adjacent images.
7. Not sure why you need to post this thread on two forums.
Who did you use for the template? I am thinking it is a wordpress - as the lack of scrolling through the photos. Also as stated, I don't understand what the headings mean.. "via, norm, etc?
Sort of an obscure format to me.
Not intuitive
Dark.
Images of a type seem the same in pose or processing so I'm sort of meh about viewing more of same.
Unable to view images separately.
The titles don't "connect" with me although I get it that its an artsy descriptor.
Have you considered just going to Smugmug and doing a pro membership? Would be much faster site (hosted on Amazon servers I believe), and setup is pretty intuitive.
-it loads fast enough for me
-i'm not sure how you could make the navigation more intuitive
-it is dark
-the images don't really benefit from being shown in groups and in parts
-some of your models are gorgeous
-I understand that versatility may not be the theme in the modelling, but it might serve you to illustrate other styles
-I'm only getting one image in the saturate section
