p.1 #1 · Revised Eagles from the Mongaup Reservoir area

After the comments I got regarding exposure on this particular photo. and went back to the drawing board.
I used the highlight curve tool and tried to improve on some of blown out whites. It was a bright day with direct sunlight from my left, as well as reflected light off the ice.
C&C welcomed. I think there is an improvement, but I may be wrong.
# 1 is the original
# 2 is the re-edited photo

I also aded another photo from the same day

Thanks for lookin

Al

The second one for me, although you ''cut'' the tip of the wing. The last one appears to be blurry.

Phil

You are correct. The immie's left wing in the third photo is a little out of focus due to a slower than normal shutter speed.
I just thought is was a cool capture.
Thanks for the honest critique.

Nice Al, but the first two might benefit from a little work in curves ~ Ron

Ron could you be more specific. My PP skills are basic at best.

I wish I could be more specific, but I don't use Lightroom. In general, in curves, you move specific points on the curve to change the exposure in specific areas ~ Ron

O gosh Al, not sure if you cut the tip or merely trapped the tip, that is a very close call, a very wedged fit for sure Sometimes best fix is to cut it by a bunch and work the comp

#1 I see this one wearing jewelry OK, for me just a bit more contrast makes the snap in this one and maybe work the subject off center a bit with crop?

That is a difficult BG for this one. However, you got it!

Comments for thought, not for criticism. Enjoyable scenery, a proud Eagle outing and nothing at all to not enjoy here! Images are sharp and pleasing.

Correct on all counts. One of my favorite places to photograph Eagles.
I had a lot of difficulty dealing with tonal highlights on these. Bright sunlight with the eagles flying in and out of the shadows. #1could have used some more work as Ron said.
The wing was "as shot"

Thanks

Al

Most of the shots were handheld from my truck window.

Hey Al....you seem to be on an eagle quest and very successfully I might add. Looks like a very nice place for shooting these guys with getting ground as well as flight shots. Maybe we'll have to sneak up there to shoot together one of these days.

Eric;

Promises Promises. Actually, one of my favorite things to do is get in my truck early in the morning and head up to the Delaware, whether I'm chasing Eagles or not. My son has a weekend house up there and I've always enjoyed exploring new locations. The Eagles are an added bonus. There's a lot to see in that area, from the Mongaup area, the Lackawaxen River and Zane Grey boat launch.

I think you need to go somewhere in between. First one needs more color but the second one is oversaturated. Just my opinion but tough light.

There was no in between. Bright reflected sunlight is very tough to deal with. When I reduced the color saturation, I lost a lot of detail and could not neutralize the white highlights.
Appreciate your input.

Thanks

Al.
