just a quick last image post from 2012 and a message of good luck to you all in 2013.
Had some strong winds the past few days, which have produced some large swells in the english channel, infact JaneG`s image is at the other end of the uk coast to this.
I have only seen a few shots of strong winds from ths location at Newhaven harbour and with no rain i knew i had achance to catch a few frames. this image was with the 5dmk2 and 400mm 5.6 iso 400 1/1600 sec. i did have to go up to iso 800 soon after this, the light just fell away but it was a bit of a dilema. all shots under exposed by around 1/3 - 2/3 to keep shutter speed high as the wind vibration / buffeting was horrendous and i was using the discovery as a hide shooting out of the window!
Thanks John,
The light is approx 60ft so not overly big. I have a completely submerged shot as well.
We rarely get waves this size and this image has been on my todo list.
Happy New Year! What a cool shot you got here. It certainly is great that we can go shoot at ISO 800 or even higher when needed. The days of being criticized for shooting anything other than ISO 100 are over, yet I still know people who refuse to raise it higher. Your shot here is a great example of why it's great to have more flexibility now when the conditions dictate it. Great job and post a few more shots from those large waves.
