Hi i have D800 + 50mm f1.8G and i like to buy lens for general walk around mostly for landscape. i have three lens in my mind if you guys can help me to pick one my budget is £800 ($1200) iam not pro its just hobby
I will highly appreciate your reply.
I own three out of the four lenses you mentioned. I own 50/1.8G, 16-35VR and 24-120F4. If I were you I will go for 24-120 for now and add 16-35 or 28/1.8 later. 24-120F4 is an excellent walkaround lens on D800.

Iam leaning toward to 16-35 as i have 50mm 1.8G later on i will add 70-200 f4. All i like to know apart from landscape does 16-35 good for walk around?

It's fantastic if you like a wide angle for a walk around.

That sounds like a great plan. But if I had only one choice from your list as an only lens, it would be the 24-120mm f4.
I will go for 24-120 because most replies are toward 24-120. Reason i start this thread as i have limited budget and i dont want to regret iam glad i asked you guys.
Thanks again
I would also look at maybe the tamron 24-70mm 2.8 if you ever need a 2.8. If not get the 24-120MM great zoom length on FF and it will be on their about 90% at least it was for me with a similar setup.
I think the ultimate Landscape lens is the 14-24 which I have.
If I were you I would get the AF-S Nikkor 28-300 VR
It is surprisingly good at 28mm.
I have one dedicated to our D600 and another to my D800 most of the time.

24-120 would be a great walk around lens for a hobbiest. You have the wide angle covered through to your telephoto
WHAT is a hobbiest? Some sort of super hobbit? I think it would then be "hobbitest"? I keep looking and even the Urban Dictionary has no definition for "hobbiest". If you are thinking of a person with a hobby, then the term is "hobbyist" and not hobbiest. I realize that for some photography is a super hobby, but that still does not make photography or a photographer a "hobbiest".

Spelling police in full effect
on a side note, I'd go with the 16-35. One of my favorite lenses for landscape type work.
