Hi all,

This will be my first time posting an image here on FM. I have been a long time reader of the forums.

This shot was taken right before an afternoon storm on the Gold Coast, Australia.

Thanks.

Excellent work. I really like the way you've composed this with the arrangement of foreground rocks and the breakwater. The long shutter speed makes for a nice simple image.

Hi Paul,

Yeah I am happy with how it worked out. I originally went into it with a 35mm lens but the rock wall and light in the background just lost its presence and it did not work. By the time I moved and re-setup the tripod on the rocks, the light was really low and that was a 2 min exposure.

Great comp Scott. I like how the sharp rocks in the foreground contrast against the silky waters.
Best,
Fred

Beautiful image. I don't know how to pull the EXIF info, would you mind sharing that and what you used for filter(s)?
Thank you,
Brent

Hi Brent,

From memory it was a 50mm Summilux ASPH, 120secs, f8/f11 and I cant remember if I had 3 stop ND on as well. I had the ND on when the light was better, but it dropped off quite fast so thats why the exposure time was 120sec.

You should post more often. You have a great sense of direction and composition. The combination of the foreground and the lighthouse in the background is just perfect and the mid ground water helps in the eye movement which is great.
