Wich option would you prefer for more reach with the Nikon AF-S 300mm f4?
The D7k cost a little more but I get f4 and 450mm vs f5,6 and 420mm with the TC14EII.

I can't say how much you might prefer a D7k over the D700 but consider that the D7k is probably looking through the best part of the lens and does not have the extra TC optics in the way. You might also appreciate being able to use f/4 as a maximum aperture for both shooting and AF, whereas the TC drops the maximum aperture to a darker f/5.6.
So long as you don't need to sell your D700 to get the D7k you'll two good cameras to choose from each time you shoot.
