These are from a late afternoon visit to Oakland Lake hear in New York City. I think I’ll be shooting there a lot this winter as the fresh water ponds of Jamaica Bay are now salt water ponds greatly reducing the number of birds in the area. Oakland Lake has always been a favorite place so I’ll enjoy it though there will be many fewer flight opportunities. The cold wind must have taken the energy out of the mallards as they were going to sleep before sunset. The mourning dove was in a deep wooded part of the park and I spotted it from the trail as I walked out.
