These are so call Re-born dolls, hand-made and painted by my wife, it takes one week to complete one doll, I guess this gives me a practice on product photography, I find it difficult to captures these cause the light reflects differently on the dolls. If you like to see more this is my wife's fan page from Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/sweetpeablossomsnursery?ref=ts&fref=ts
Thanks for looking and any CC on the image is welcome
You could probably sell these to photographers here on this forum who sometimes ask about photographing a doll or stuffed animal (due to lack of living subjects) when testing lights etc.
Hey Steady thanks happy holidays to you; yeah my wife is really all into making these dolls. They feel real also when you carry them and you can pose them in different ways also for picture taking. A couple of photographers did ask my wife concerning buying them to practice on lighting and photographing babies.
Thanks Bob and cmillc22, yeah she put a lot of care and love in making these dolls, the hair alone takes two days to place one strand at a time, these are made of silicone and painted several layers for the vein, skin color and then textured to mimic real skin, each layer painted goes into an oven to cure the paint permanently to the silicone. No two dolls are alike and each weighs differently anywhere from 5lbs. premie baby to 9 lbs. for a nine months baby. This picture was an order for Christmas for two lucky little girls
Thanks for looking.
I have NEVER seen anything so lifelike in my life. These are incredible. You're wife is beyond talented. As far as lighting and photographing, treat them as a regular subject, same shadowing, catch lights, everything you would do with a real person. Amazing!
I scrolled through thinking I was looking at real babies. Then I remembered the title, and the first picture, and my mind was blown. I'd say the only one that even looks like a doll is the last photo in post #2.

Danny,
Like others, I was completely fooled by the first two closeup shots. As I continued scrolling I finally realized that they all were dolls.
WOW! That's some talent your wife has.
And your photography showcases the dolls in fine fashion.

Thank you sboerup and Charlie, next time I'm going to take a series of images from start to finish, then you can see the process in making one of these dolls
Thank you fstop and bbourizk, they cost around anywhere from $400 to $1000, depending on the model and some are collectibles and no two dolls are alike, on ebay you can find around $350 to $1000, the most expensive I have seen bidding on eBay crazy as it sound was $23K.
