I think I understand this, Tim.
You applied a magical formula that I learned as an elementary school teacher:
There are times when it is necessary to explain things so that the dumbest student will understand it

. When I did, I was confident that the others also understood

Excellent tutorial...I use the surface blur filter rather than the noise reduction filter but the end result is the same.
