I like the abstraction and higher level of complexity in the first image.

The first photo for me as well. I might consider photographing the light on the carpet only as an abstract. A quick crop done on my phone to illustrate. You might try using the liquefy tool to add curves.

Thanks for your thoughts - yes, glancing down the hallway the forms caught my eye so a couple of quick grabs before the track's owner had some redesign help from little sister.

On a laptop the first appears quite muddy to me, the others more intriguing thematically but less so visually.
