Polaroid to announce an Android interchangeable lens camera at CES 2013:

Polaroid appears to be set to announce an Android OS-based interchangeable lens camera at the CES 2013 trade show. Imaging Resource has written an article in which Scott Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid, has confirmed the upcoming announcement. While Scott has commented that "Additional information and specs will be released during the show", a product image on a Russian social media site shows a Nikon 1 series-like camera body and kit lens, while leaked specs suggest the camera runs Android 4, and features an 18.1-megapixel sensor and 3.5" touchscreen display.

The camera is a total piece of crap, too, as you'd expect. Pretty interesting concept, though!

The fact that they were unable to come up with a better/different design than the Nikon J1 is a huge tipoff here. Sad.

Looks like Kodak is doing the same thing and licensing their name to someone which is planning to produce a cheap interchangeable lens camera.

A few days ago, Kodak signed a licensing agreement with Southern California based (and probably Chinese manufacturing) JK Imaging. With this agreement, JK Imaging will market digital cameras under the Kodak brand.

Fast forward to now, and Amateur Photographer UK interviewed Kodak and was told that JK Imaging will be launching an interchangeable lens camera (compact system camera), along with a 52x superzoom among other Kodak-branded digital cameras.

And now here:

During CES Kodak announced that they licensed their brand name to JK Imaging for certain consumer products, including digital cameras, pocket video cameras, and portable projectors. In an interview with AP, Kodak's representative confirmed that a new compact system camera will be part of the portfolio
