This was from fall color shooting the last week in September in Colorado, just outside Ridgway. I was driving on Hwy 26 and saw this scene, I did a quick U-turn, and got set up just in time to take maybe 3 or 4 shots before the sun was gone, and then another 5 minutes as I stood hoping the sun would pop out again and instead the rain instead came pouring down. This was one of those 3 or 4 shots.
Jim I'm glad you stopped and turned around. What a fantastic photo. It's not every day we get to experience a sight like that and I'm glad you shared it with us. Geart light and you were in the right spot.

Zowie!
So richly warm with wonderful tones.
Great stuff here Jim. One of my favorite scenes at the Dallas Divide.
Of course at my age the proximity to the highway is a real plus.
Hey Henry,
Thanks so much for that. Yes, this area is so rich in beauty. And old or young, it was nice to be able to just pull off the side of the road to shoot this just 5 feet away from my truck. Especially when it started to rain.

Beautiful Jim! Love the colors and the comp. Very nice drama in the clouds too.
Jason
Thanks Jason, the lighting, just everything came together so nicely. It was like a painting was setup before me, and I had to do was set down the camera and press the shutter...
