Greetings! I'm new here and to the wedding business. I've worked for the past five years as a photographer for the Army, and I'm actually writing this post from Afghanistan, towards the end of my tour here (month 9).

I leave the service this coming August and I've been planning for the last two years to start a wedding/portrait business back home in Tacoma, Washington. It's something new, and very different, from what I've shot over the last few years! Hopefully Iraq and Afghanistan will have prepared me for what you all call Uncle Bob. After Jihad Bob, he can't be that bad.

This forum rocks, so I figured I'd finally sign up. You guys post some great work and I can't wait to share some of my first shoots with you. As an introduction, here's a few of my shots from the last few months. Shot on film and digital, with a Nikon FM10 and D3 respectively.

I’m not a wedding photographer…….I just wanted to thank you for your service.

Hopefully Iraq and Afghanistan will have prepared me for what you all call Uncle Bob. After Jihad Bob, he can't be that bad.

After looking at your website and images, I’m sure you will do just fine in the war zone that is wedding photography.

Just spent the better half of a morning looking at your work and really connected with it.

I even read the text, and I never do that.

What you are able to do with D80 and Nikon L35 is what a lot of people wish they could do with a D4.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! Trust me, I used the hell out of those D80's. I don't think either made it back alive.

I would suspect your experiences would prepare you for weddings like no other! If anything, you should be able to keep your cool in any situation and deflate any freaking out bride.
