I shoot headshots and a lot of my clients put them on LinkedIn. I just joined linked in and realized they have a horrible compression algo that looks horrible. Nothing looks sharp- tons of jpg compression artifacts.

I am not sure if this would make any difference but when I know that they are going to go to some nasty web site I usually make some small JPGs (400px long side) and use "Save For Web" in PS. Quality seems very high and files sizes are small enough to duck under their filter that initiates re-sampling and compression.
