my local dealer offers a used Tamron 24-70 f2.8 for $350 plus tax.. They do not know how old the lens is. But the glass looks fine and the rings are smooth. The store is really, really good and I trust them. But $350 for this lens (Nikon mount) seems way too cheap to me. How can that be? I am looking for this zoom and was about to buy a Nikkor 35-70 f2.8. But this makes me think, maybe I should buy the Tamron instead.. What is your opinion on this? (I am kind of new to FF; I just got a D700)
I would gamble on it, esp if it has warranty or possibility of return. Best thing about local stores, bring in your camera and test it out, and even if it doesn't work well but is the 24-70mm, I'd see if I can get warranty service on it and use it then.
That would be my guess to. 28-75. Still a remarkable little lens for the money and the weight. I had one when I first got into photography.. Nice budge lens.
