I haven't been posting much, but a best shot of the year thread here in the gear forum would be fun to see. So when you post your shot (only 1 image) also include the gear ID and why you like it. Peter's seasonal threads have been so popular and hopefully this will be a place to combine all the best shots from those postings as well.
We still have a few days to shoot, I'm pretty sure of my choice, but think I'll post mine on the 1st of Jan 2013, since we're only allowed one...great idea Mark, "Your Personal Best/Favorite of the Year"
Plus I'm rebuilding my lappy, my images and Lightroom aren't available yet...soon tho
My personal best images are those of my grandkids but this is not too shabby and I am not planning of doing anymore serious photography for the rest of the year. I posted a similar image using a Canon 24-70mm Mark II in that respective thread but this is a shot taken with the 17mm TS-E for a little bit wider view. Taken with a 5D Mark III at f/8.0:
Didn't take many photos in 2012 actually, kinda felt bad looking back at my library lol. It was mainly because I only had a 70-200. Anyhow, I just recently bought a new set of 2 lenses, Zeiss 50 MP2 and Canon 24L TS-E II. Chances are I won't get much chance to upload shots until 2013 so I'll take the best I've had so far.
Multi shot stitch with Canon 24L TS-E II and Canon 5DmkII. Each exposure was 15 sec at f11 and ISO 100.
Maybe not the best technically, but certainly my favorite of the year. I didn't notice the ill-fated ant till I got down to processing the days' photos, and I knew it was a keeper despite the bit of motion. I really like how thoughtful the Prothonotary Warbler looks even though in reality the ant was in his belly two frames later. Neat how capturing a moment in time can change things!
Taken with a 7D and 400L f/5.6 wide open at ISO 640 & 1/320sec.
Always hard to pick just one, but I think I'll go with this one for the combination of timing, sharpness, and getting the exposure right given the weather and surroundings:
This is from my best session of the year...it started as a simple product shoot for the Steampunk corset, and then progressed from there. Couple in the best sunset I've lucked into in three years out here in New Mexico...
