Good lighting and a good looking dog, (though an interesting posture in the rear quarters) is this yours Greg? I know you have /or had a Chocolate Lab.

Thanks Douglas. The lighting is still not quite right. Trying to put my finger on it. The shadows don't bother me, as they are pretty mild, but I think I had a bit much on the BG, since I didn't meter that area...
Anyway, yes, Mac is mine. Maddie is the chocolate lab and she's recovering from ACL surgery at the moment and isn't available for poses
Greg
Oh, and that's just how he sits with his really short legs
Two excellent and likable images, Greg.
No critique because I'm not qualified on the topic of doggie portraits.
But I prefer the first because of the head tilt. It adds a bit of animation to the pic.
And of course- Max is a swell dog .

Nice take, I would suggest lowering 1 stop or more of light in either side, this will show more depth to a somewhat flat looking image. This may also be obtained with a white reflecting surface in one side instead of the strobe.
