p.1 #1 · Lens Resolution on D800

So I grabbed a refurbed D800 from Adorama. That $2500 price tag was too hard to resist. My big question is regarding lenses and resolution and how well this is going to work on the D800.

I've been a lover of the 1.8 lenses for a long time and currently am using a 28 1.8, 50 1.8 and 85 1.8 for a lot of my portrait work. I'm just curious if the resolution on these lenses is going to work as well as it was on my D700. Only real concern I seem to have especially with a lens like the 50 1.8.

Having shot Nikon since 1968 (Nikon F w/ 50mm f:1.4) and used a plethora of lenses along the way, I'm pretty confident you'll be very well satisfied with your f:1.8 glass on the D800. The only downside you might encounter with those spectacular files is more PP retouching on female portraits.

My wife and I are shooting both D800 and D800E and (landscapes me, portraits her) and we have no complaints whatsoever.

I picked up the cheapest of standard FX zooms the 28-80 in a package deal and planned of flipping it with the other gear I didn't want to keep. To my surprise it has no trouble at all resolving the D800 sensor. this was shot at 50mm/f/7.1/ISO 100/1.6s. Not bad for a $60 lens.

The D800 won't have any trouble with your f/1.8 lenses.

ETA: That is nearly a 100% crop.
