A day trip from Srinigar- by car.
I asked the driver to stop so I could walk around a bit.
These men were nearby, so I approached them.
No common language, but some smiles and a gesture with my camera made it okay to take their photograph.
What so many men were doing just sitting around away from the nearest village... well, I don't know. But as with many cultures and countries about which I know very little, I just accepted it as being one of life's minor mysteries.
When I travel abroad- there are many minor mysteries  .
