I'm currently in the layoff season of work and have decided to head down to the Patagonia region of South America for the harsh northern winter. I'll be keeping a photoblog of the journey and thought some of you might be interested. It will be mostly landscape photography I suspect.
As of now there is not much on the site, just a couple posts and a couple new shots. If I end up with any keepers on the trip I will be posting how the shot was achieved, where it was, and how hard it was to get there. Feel free to take a look and follow along, this trip is purely for my personal photography. Comments are always welcome via the blog comment section. If you happen to be in any of the areas I'm visiting I encourage you to fire me a msg and coffee will be arranged!
The bugaboos are one of my favorite spots. The ice axe really completes the picture - I will have to buy one Great picture and thanks for the patagonia link. Its on my list between Banks Island, and Botswana. Thanks for sharing the picture and the link. Scott
Still not in Patagonia, but much closer then I was. I've made it to Chile, purchased the bike, and have put 1300km on it so far. Rather then starting a new thread with pictures as I go, I'll update this one.
Thank you! One more, only because I read a thread about composites that I found amusing. THIS IS A COMPOSITE. When I did the star trail shot I envisioned something like this as the end result. It did not turn out as well as I had hoped for, apparently in the southern hemisphere I should have aimed the camera south? not north? All you shooters south of 0 let me know!
Today brought me a little closer yet to Patagonia... Salto Del Laja. Although not as impressive as Victoria, Iguazu or Niagra they were non the less quite pretty. This series is dedicated to my hatred of people and rules which stop me from getting the shots I want haha. These are all 30 second exposures at very small F/ stops, in an attempt to blurr out the people. (most also involved a CPOL and a 10 stop ND filter...)... Currently I'm in Pucon, pictures of the area to follow at somepoint if I can capture the Volcano as I want to
The first is straight out of Camera, the second, obviously heavily edited. Let me know what you think. I know HDR is a real touchy subject on these forums, the advantage I see of attempting HDR is you can always go backwards. FWIW two of the waterfall shots are HDR, I think it's pretty easy to tell which ones are. I like experimenting, especially when give the opportunity to do so in such a nice place! I'm going to try and tone down the editing on these in the future, we shall see, unfortunately I on this trip I don't always end up where I want, when I want to shoot and the dynamic range on some of these places is crazy big.
