Did I miss Part 1? I was out in Death Valley, so maybe I missed it? Your first shot shows great scale. #2 is okay, but I think there really needs to be water around the bowling balls for the shot to really work. So it's all about timing with the right tife level...
I have visited BB Beach several times and have seen these rocks change their setting with the seasons/weather. Are these very recent shots? Your shot shows quite a lot of sand around the base of the rocks. Sometimes there is none, and other times they are covered with a fair amount of seaweed! I think winter storms clean them of seaweed and sand. Of course this is a notoriously foggy stretch of Mendocino coastline, with a limited number of non-foggy, low tide sunsets! Its great to see your examples.

Jim, I thought there was a part I. Seriously, maybe under a different title
The 1st one is a crop because of the aforementioned lens issues.
Choosing to go there at low tide/sunset was not optimal as there wasn't much water near or rarely over the balls. Probably a better time would be with rising tide, but not high tide.
Mike, this was last Monday.Hopefully the next visit will be with the right lenses, weather & tides
