During the November full moon I shot a series of 360º night panoramas from an old abandoned missile site in the Marin Headlands. The weather was perfect -- very clear, and the fog stayed out on the water. When you zoom in on the interactive version (link below), you can see the top of the Golden Gate Bridge, downtown San Francisco, and even down the peninsula to Mt. San Bruno.
I was experimenting with the new features of the Pano2VR v4 panorama presentation software, and added a couple of 2001: A Space Odyssey monolith cartoons inside the interactive version of the panorama. The cartoonist liked the idea of a monolith cartoon on a monolith -- a meta-monolith panorama!
These images were shot with an EOS 60D and Canon 8-15mm f/4L fisheye on a RRS pano head. Each image is 8 shots (6 around, 1 up, and 1 down) with the lens at 10mm in a vertical position. The final resolution is just over 14,000 x 7,000 pixels (98 megapixels). The 360º interactive version is pretty high resolution and more entertaining. You can also link to 2 additional views from inside the pano!

Wow, very impressive, I particularly like the IQ within the pano; most I've seen fall down quality-wise when you look closer. I'm not familiar with the software you used, how many images were stitched together to make up the 360?

Hi Ironimage - just updated the post with more technical details. These were shot with a 60D and 8-15mm fisheye at 10mm. 6 shots around at -10º, 1 shot up at 70º, and an offset nadir (down shot). The images were processed in Lightroom, stitched in PTGui Pro, and then output in both Flash and HTML5 using Pano2VR.

Wow! i love the panorama. Its so different and the color of the sky is great. I generally get to see panoramas of big cities with lots of buildings, this is unique.
