These are from 2 weekends ago - I did not like them much when I first looked at them but when I looked back, they kind of grew on me. [plus my wolf shots kind of distracted me]
They were taken waiting for the sun to rise about 35km east of Jasper on the Yellowhead highway.
The wind was blowing like crazy and it was 10f or -10c. brrrrrr
ben egbert: Glad you like the North shot. The first one was really cold and dark - you can see the trees leaning in the background. I am still debating whether it is too centred top-bottom but the blues appealed to me. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Fred Miranda: Glad you like the series. They are more pastel with less features than I am used to taking of mountains. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Such dedication! It was -10 and windy here today - and I just was not tempted to go out with camera.
Anyway your efforts paid great dividends with some beautiful captures - number 2 and 3 are especially nice! #1 has me wishing there was more detail exposed in the shadows.
Looking forward to seeing more with your ZE 35mm f/1.4.
Robert Snow: Glad you like 4. This spot was the windiest and coldest of the day. I took my camera off at the end and put in in the car and the wind almost blew my heavy tripod into the river. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
dbehrens: On 1 I struggled to get the moon in without too much halo vs details. I will have to try again in processing. But glad you like 2,3. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Scott Kroeker: Glad you like them. It was a cold morning. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
pliukait: Glad you like it. It was the warmest shot modestly protected from the wind. The wolves were the highlight of my year. Thanks for the encouragement. Much appreciated. Scott
Wolf is below for others to see - I am proud of him.
nma: Glad you like "facing north". The blues were intense before the sun rose. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Oregon Gal: Thats a lot of favorites. Thanks for the encouragement. Much appreciated. Scott
philtax: Glad you like 2,3. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
Phrasikleia: Glad you like it. It was my favorite of the set. Much appreciated. Scott
martines34: The wolf was too close for more on the left and right with my 5diii/600. Glad you like 3,4. It was a cold morning. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
ckcarr: I think 2 is my favorite of that morning as well. It has some unique and compelling colors.
[re the wolf - I prefer to be called "Mr Hot Dog" To my knowledge, the wolves around here do not interbreed with other species, they eat them. In Jasper there have been a number of pets on leashes that have been picked off by wolves.I think the interbreeding occurs in the east between coyotes and wolves where the wolves cannot find a mate because of a shortage of wolves.]
I am glad you like the landscapes. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Scott
These are really sweet shots. The only one that really doesn't do much for me is #1. But the other 3 really rock. I think my order of preference is #3 (that could be a painting), then #2 and then #4.
Great work here and worth the effort and frozen fingers.
