After more than 3 years of searching I finally found not one, but two Snowy Owls recently. Now the trick will be getting them on a natural perch instead of telephone poles.

The lighting of the first is wonderful Harry and you exposed it perfectly. Keep at it and you will get the same on a nice perch

Very nice perched on 2, but I liike 3 best (with some cropping to get her out of the centre). You will find that getting them off the perch is tough on the prairies. Although they don't like trees they sure seem to love power poles. I went for a drive near Vulcan yesterday and saw one female but before I could get my camera ready, off she went.

So the degree of difficulty is high. However, as compared to the snowy's from the coast, the ones that show up on the prairies seem healthier looking so when you finally get one, it will be worth it.

At this point I was just happy to finally see one, but now that I know she's in the area I can focus on a more natural shot. The biggest problem is locating them though -- this one flew about 1/4 km into a field and sat on the ground. Had I not witnessed the flight I would never have seen the owl in the field.
