Amazon has 5D III for $2999 and the kit with 24-105 for $3299!! The kit price in particular is the best I have seen from an authorized Canon dealer so far.
I just bought the kit. I can't wait to see all the positives I have heard about 5D III for myself.
I saw the deal also on slickdeals.net and I'm tempted, but keep telling myself my 5d2 is doing the job for me still. Still, a very good deal. Wonder if it's the trend with the body tho with the 6d being released etc.

That's exactly why I held off this long. But hearing about the improved keeper rate from everyone here made me decide to bite the bullet and give it a shot.
Wow!!!! I just went to grab the link that I had on my computer from my transaction and realized the price went up by $400??!!!!! I posted it literally seconds after I saw the price on Amazon for the benefit of all FMers, but I regret to say the price changed. Hope at least some of you were able to grab it while the lower price was available.
The shop that I buy my cameras in (FotoFile in Bangkok) take $ 3780 for the 5D3 + 24-105L + BGE 11 battery grip. Or $ 2895 for 5D3 + BGE 11 battery grip

Lars is right and that is exactly why I grabbed the kit even though I got the 24-105 lens as part of the 5D Mk II kit, as one of the early adopters of 5D II.
