Another marvelous set, Eric.
Gadzooks! Those are magnificent animals!
And your images- time after time- show off their beauty and personalities. Endless thanks for these and your past and future leopard posts.
Man- the change in "personality" sure is apparent with image #4 following image #3.
Looks in the last shot as though its got an animal that is too heavy to carry up a tree. Good luck with the lions and hyenas, buddy.
And the idea that an animal as big as a leopard can chase monkeys around in trees- AND SOMETIMES CATCH THEM- is borderline unbelievable! I've seen it on nature shows, and wow!
So, Eric- that's your target. Start monkeying around in the forests .

You are always too kind...and also a very good proof reader
You have probably seen leopards hunting monkeys in some documentaries...I haven't had the pleasure viewing that in the wild but have seen a lion with a baboon carcass...

Yeah Eric I'm with Charlie, lets see a Leopard catching a Monkey
I like the wide shot, great example of how they would be difficult to spot(no pun). The rest of the bunch really do a wonderful job of showing these animals beauty, wow!!
Tim
Thanks Tim...the agility of leopards in and amongst the branches is something to see. While I haven't seen one attempt it I have seen them move with incredible agility and man is it something to see.

Wonderful cat shots Eric, #3 is a winner for sure, wow love that shot!
#4 is really beautiful showing all those spots.
Funny how are eyes become trained for our local environments to spot wildlife easily and how different it must be for our untrained eyes in other environments!
Karl
There are some incredible rangers who can pick out cheetahs from almost a half mile away...seriously, I've seen that in person. Thanks so much for the nice words.

Whoa, sure like that 3rd shot Eric. The cat looks very pensive. And yeah, leopard are very easy to miss. I wonder how many go unnoticed at very close distance.
Henrik
Thanks H...I think you miss leopards like highway patrolmen...for each car you see...there are 4 you drive right by!

Eric, what can I say , these are just fantastic !!! I think 2 and 3 are outstanding. One sees these shots and understands why you love the big cats so much.

Roberta...you are always so generous...thank you. Funny, I wonder if subconsciously I "try harder" when I shoot these guys...I certainly feel I am more connected for some reason.

Excellent captures, Eric, with #3 stealing the show
Socrate
Thanks Socrate....I must have traveled almost 360 around the tree TWICE to get the right light and of course my spotty friend would often turn and move just as I would get to the right spot...but I finally tuckered her out

wow! amazing you could get that close. when we were in tz we saw one leopard but only from a distance and there was such a crowd of safari trucks that showed up the cat left the area...
p.2 #14 · How most people first see a leopard and then...
I hear your comment over and over from safari goers. There are some special places that have regular leopard sightings. In everywhere else the adage "you don't find the leopard, it finds you, holds up".
I have found Tanzania less productive for leopards but over the top for cheetahs. The reverse being true in the majority of southern Africa.
