By California standards- not a particularly busy place for visitations. And not iconic at all- but most of the world isn't iconic .
Desert, of course, and some fairly interesting sedimentary rock layers and their erosion.
Basic campground the last time I was there; it was a good place to mix some hiking with lying around camp.
The large plants are Joshua Trees.
This is one of my favorite state parks in California. Your photos just reminded me of some great times I had there. I really like your shot with the VW campervan; it's quintessential California. Nice set!
Thanks Phil, Scrap and Phrasik.
Old VW vans- talk about a love/hate relationship: No power, very top-heavy, and the only thing protecting me from oncoming traffic was a vertical windshield (a shield from the wind- literally ).
But a great little house on wheels when stopped .
