Dante's View at Death Valley offers panoramic views.
Badwater Basin, a part of the Devil's Golf Course, and the Telescope Peak across the valley to the left.
It was really windy and cold when I got there before the sunrise.

My view... Kee

C & C would be appreciated.

Hey Khee,

Very cool. I am thinking next time I am there I need to get up there and shot. I just got back from two days out at DV, and it was really sweet with great clouds, but I didn't make it up to Dante's View... next time.

Did you take the shot in RAW? If so maybe you have enough detail in the original to darken the top half of the shot. I think that it would be a lot stronger that way.

Thanks for the comment, Jim.
I will look for your Death Valley photos from the recent trip.
DV is surely a wonderful place to visit.

Thanks Helen for your comments. I will see how the darkened top half would look.

Dante is a great location, but can be cold and breezy. Good capture. While you are in there toning down the top half, there are a few dust specs asking to be fixed as well.

Rhee,
I really like the image.
Dante's View is often a tough place to shoot from.
For one thing, at a mile high it can be really cold in winter at sunrise- as you found out .
Also, the shadows in the valley are a great element, but the sun is directly behind you, so the light on the distant valley and mountains is flat and without detail or texture.
My favorite time to be there in winter is in late afternoon- when the sun is coming in from the left and gives excellent texture to almost everything from this perspective.

Thanks for the tip, Charlie. The morning I went to Dante's View was really cold and windy.
Also it was not really easy to compose due to the problem that you indicated.
Perhaps next time, I will try sunset shot.

From my experience, Dante's View is pretty cold and extremely windy - but has the best mobile reception in a whole DV
As about the shot, I like the bottom part, and the top seems way too light. I am sure that's how it looked, but for a sake of balance, it makes sense to darken it a bit.

Thanks Matt and Aleksandra,
I totally agree with both of you that a little bit darkend top portion will blend with the rest of the scene.
I have tried and uploaded the revised photo but took it off because I didn't fully performed the post processing.
I plan to spend more on that subject.
Thanks again for your comments.
