Does anyone know why the old "FM Berlin Photo Meet" thread got archived after just under 2 months of inactivity? It has been edited by Fred, and looks to be in an odd state. Did I say something obscene or something?
So, will anyone be around in the next two weeks, and interested in doing something? I am off work for those two weeks, and will have about 6 free hours each day from about 10-16 or so, and am keen to spend some of that time pursuing photographic activities. It could be shooting, exhibitions, or just chats and testing over a coffee, anything goes.
I always wanted to come to one of the Berlin photo meets, but I kind of lost my passion for photography and was never taking my 5Dii with me anywhere. Now have a Fuji X setup and I've rediscovered the passion, so would be keen to come along to the next meetup in the new year.
Meanwhile, I just published my Berlin photography website at www.jubbystardust.com . You're welcome to let me know what you think... Not too hopeful of making much money, as my target market is poor and will have plenty of their own contacts.
Anyway, this isn't a shill, just to introduce myself as I haven't posted here much in the last few years, which, honestly, has been good for my bank balance.
Subscribing to the thread and hope to come along to something - a shoot or a visit to C/O or whatever - next year.
Well, Markus took the initiative this time and booked a tour on January 19th, FDJ school on the go2know.de site. Is anyone else interested in joining? I will be going, Markus of course, and Lurker X, so far.
Carsten, please count me in. I would be happy to join you guys a probably freak'n cold Berlin January weekend. Glühwein? Food. Images! I'll book a flight and hotel as soon as you confirm the date is firm. Should I also book a slot at go2know for the tour? Are we going there together by car or should I book some sort of transfer to the place?
I would love to come, but cannot gamble on a Sunday morning return, as I am committed to a Sunday morning Church function. What time would it finish on Saturday, so that I might make a late Saturday return?
The Go2know page shows a 10am to 3pm schedule, but I have no idea where the place is, and how long it would take to which airport.
It runs 10-15, but it is outside of Berlin, I believe. I haven't received the instruction email yet, so I am not sure where. I will try to find out...
Stefan, yes, German people should book their own (unless there is some particular reason you can't, then I can do it) Note that you can opt to pay cash on location.
It appears to be about 40km north of Berlin. Since we are often allowed a bit of extra time there, I would not expect that we would leave before 15.30, and then with connections and travel time, it could easily be 17.00-17.30 before you could be at the airport. Is this still Tegel, or do you have to use the new one now?
Thanks for the info, Carsten. Then I shall arrive on the Friday, in time for some dinner and shop-talk, and leave late Saturday. I am trying to talk my brother into coming as well.
I was in Berlin for a few days and am very happy Carsten and I found some time to shoot in Tiergarten. Carsten knows the place well and led us straight to some very nice spots. The small lakes were in an interesting state of defrosting, giving them a milky appearance.
My kit: CY Zeiss 25/2.8 and 100-300/4.5-5.6 on 5DII.
It was great to see you again. It is always nice to meet other photography enthusiasts!
I was having a lot of trouble with the exceedingly flat light, and after processing for a while and not really getting something I liked, I decided to embrace the shittiness of the weather and go B&W
