Someone told me about a Sigma 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 DC OS lens for sale for $250. can't find any info or ones that are on sale here in this forum. Thinking of getting it and selling my 28-135 canon lens. Anyone with experience with this lens?
I used to have one, & my daughter still uses it. I've also owned the OS version & both were very good lenses relative to cost. Whether it's right for you depends on your intended use & skill set. Many will discourage you from buying a superzoom but if they fit your needs & you aren't a pixel peeper they are a very useful tool.
I've had that (the original) one too & sold it with my 40D. I was quite happy with it and if you can get one for around $250 I'd say go for it. The OS is very helpful, but turn it off for any form of panning. These were shot with the OS version.
That's actually the only non-L lens we keep. We won lots of awards with it on a 40D and a few on a 7D body. We keep it around for those times when you don't want to draw attention to yourself.
Just make sure you're using it on a crop sensor body only. It's Sigma's version of an EF-S lens.

Thank you, that seals the deal, I will try and get it and sell my canon 28-135 it will replace!
Other than the focal lengths you'll find them very similar. This sigma really has warm vibrant colours. All in all we usually recommend this lens for newbies with potential to go to the next step.
If you're not picky about quality it has a nice range...
These aren't really nice lenses though. Most mega zooms have multiple significant issues. You'd probably be wise to research the sweet spots within its range.
