I figured this deal deserved it's own thread so more people could see it.

http://brandonremler.blogspot.de/2012/11/fujifilm-x-pro1-price-move.html

"Nov 25th to Feb 2, 2013. The price will move from $1699.95 for the body to $1399.95. There is also a combo savings when the camera is bought with the XF18mm or XF35mm lens. The price for this set is $1699.95. Both are a $300 savings off the current pricing."

Not only is this a really good deal, used prices should drop a bit more too. Used XP1's already sell in the $1100 - $1200 range, depending what's included. So now, maybe used prices will drop further.

At Adorama, Amazon and BH, they're at the regular price + 2% rewards. Maybe when the X-Pro1 price drop goes in effect, the 2% rewards will remain.

Good times if you're looking to buy an X-Pro1

How well does acr handle raw files?

Based on the review from diglloyd it appears to be pretty bad. To be blunt. According to him he puts the jpeg resolution on par with that of an 8mp camera.

So how can one justify spending anything on this if you shoot raw?

now all they need to do is make the ex1 $699 add a tilty screen, release the 24 1.4 at $599 and sell like hot cakes!

Because they aren't using ACR?

Really?

Everyone else seems to say it's more like on par (or better than) previous gen FF... which are in the 12-22 MP range.

More than a price drop, I would like to see excellent Adobe RAW support.

Hell, add $200 to the price and let it have excellent Adobe RAW, I'd buy it.

I'm not too sure we'll see a tilty screen on a Fuji X camera anytime soon. I'm getting the feeling that Fuji likes staying with more conventional retro designs that don't include tilt screens. Although I would really like it if there was one. I really like using the one on my Nex 5N.

Fuji might eventually attempt to extend the X system lower by offering an even cheaper body than the Fuji X-E1. However, the only way I can see that is if they lower the build quality or remove the EVF in the camera.

Doesnt seem as 8 mpix camera. IMHO jpegs from X-E1 are pretty amazing.

I'm not horribly impressed.. There are a lot of things wrong with the camera in my opinion.

1) AF speed
2) Battery life (Xpro slightly better if using OVF, but worse with EVF, X-E1 battery life is bad)
3) NO WYSIWYG option for the EVF
4) Images apear a bit merky as JPG files (kinda like shooting with canon)
5) RAW support is aweful, might as well shoot JPG and again then you get above problem.

Aside from the top issues, it's a fun little camera, and it looks cool in hand (not that you could compare but my 5DII, 5DIII, D700, D800, D4 and M9p have FAR superior IQ, and again, I think it boils down to RAW support, as this camera should be better then M9, D700, 5DII at least).
Hopefully items 3-5 get fixed, and maybe item 1. Then adding CZ lenses makes it a stellar system.

The model's skin look plasticky, in general I am not overly impressed with how the Xtrans render skin and texture. Now that there is K5IIs, we can finally see how much detail an AAless 16MP camera has:

XPro1:

K5IIs:

I don't think diglloyd's comment is off.

It's very obvious how much resolution is lost even with fine settings based on a side by side comparison. Images are blurry and muddy. Which defeats the whole purpose of not having an AA filter.

You are aware that unless you subscribe, you can't access the post.

I have to say that I am impressed with the X-Pro 1 and have been happy with both the raw files and the jpeg output.

Nice camera but I still wouldn't pay $1400 when you can have the E1 with 18-55 lens for the same price. To pay that much for an off is insane. Anyway, Amazon warehouse has "like new" X Pro1's for $1070. I'd rather have than.

Maybe the new price is already affecting used sales? I've been watching EBAY for a few weeks and tonight an XP1 in nice condition sold via auction for $1000. And another was just listed at $1100 BIN.

Plus as Rene mentioned, Amazon Warehouse has a like new camera for under $1100, plus many more used XP1's + you get Amazons good return policy.

Exciting times for those who want to buy an XP1.

I don't think $400 extra for an OVF is insane, especially considering the technology involved in the Fujis. IMO, the OVF is the main reason to buy into the system. Without that, I'd probably just choose one of the NEX cameras.

The XP1 might be a little bigger and heavier, but you do get the OVF as Douglas mentioned, and the build quality is better than the XE1. Not that the XE1 will fall apart or anything. But the body of the XE1 is not as rugged as the XP1.

If anyone is going to buy a new XP1 without a lens, please PM me. I have a question for you.

Thanks.
