This is my first year with an investment in DSLR gear from Canon. I know that they have lots of deals on their Rebel and xxD lines but do they ever do discounts on more expensive items?
I'm basically looking for your past experience with Canon black friday / cyber monday to help me dream about this year.

Last year there were some stupidly awesome sales leading up to Christmas. I remember 70-200L II got into $1950 territory, and 35L was $1100 one day. Those weren't Black Friday deals, just part of the holiday piggy-bank-smashing craziness.

I'm waiting for a black friday sale on a 5D mk3, my price is $2500. If not then I won't buy, I'll just wait. The nikon D600 + 2 lens kit is selling at Costco for $2900, now that a good deal. At $3500 body only is asking people to switch to Nikon if you don't like Canon's price.

I wouldn't count on anything like last year. Canon caved into the demands of B&M stores with the MAP pricing and the only deals you'll see are for gray market gear.
