p.1 #1 · Grosbeaks through a mulberry window

While the fruit lasted, this small mulberry tree in the parking lot of High Island TX attracted an impressive variety of birds. To photograph them I was obliged to shoot through the leaves, but it produced a "window into their world" effect that I kinda like. From the archives (2007).

Very nice, Gordon. Your compositions are well done and build intimacy in the shots, I don't mind not seeing so much of the birds.

Wow! Nice work. I've always wanted to photograph this species but never had a good chance. Nice detail in both.

Intimacy...yeah, hadn't thought of it like that, but I think that's exactly what appeals to me in these shots. Thanks, Jim.

And thanks to all who took the time to comment on these slightly off beat images...much appreciated!

You need to come here to Ohio for Warbler season in May, you can have all the canopy shooting you want and you seem darn good at it

Nice concentration on focus Gordon and #1 sure has a mouthful!
