I made a trip up to Yosemite (as did everyone else I see from the plethora of Yosemite threads :P ). I didn't know there was a snow storm until a few days as I was checking the weather report everyday. I was just hoping for some clouds because this was probably my last trip to Yosemite this year. So I really wanted to go out with a bang and come home with some very nice dramatic landscape shots. Boy did the trip not disappoint! It fulfilled a dream of mine - to shoot Yosemite with snow (and clouds if all the stars lined up for me)!
I learned to put on chains on my tires for the first time even though I lived in Canada for 20 years. It was cold but it was really fun. The light was good all day! There was so much cloud activity that just diffused the light for the whole day on Sat. I even saw a couple getting married and saw them posing at tunnel view. The bride looked very happy and of course probably freezing to death.
I saw many photographers every where and I'm pretty sure some are probably from FM (as I've read in other threads). I wish I knew more people here personally as it would've been nice to chat up a few people. I think we should get fredmiranda.com t-shirts or caps so we can identify each other ^__^ (only half kidding).
I took quite a few photos on the highway 120 heading down the valley. I normally skip these overlooks because they are usually packed with tourists and the scenes were never interesting to me. However, since it was all snowed in I jumped to catch the morning sunrise and it was such a sight to see.
Next two are at everyone's favorite iconic stop. I won't put any alerts because I like looking at icons :P. I have taken tunnel view many times, but my first with snow!
Umm... first... FM T-shirts would be a great idea... though I am thinking if we did have them, and you spotted anyone wearing them on a day like that... those people would need to be carted off to the funny farm... Might be a bit too cold for t-shirts...
Now, you got some super sweet shots here. #2 really stands out. My other favorite is #3. Good work here.

Jason, you sound excited, and you have every reason to be...these are great, especially #2 - not a view I remember seeing before
cheers Andrew
Andrew,
I was very excited! I've never got to see yosemite in this type of condition. My previous trips were all either spring or summer so fall + winter is all new for me

Really great images No.1 is a stunner.
I suspect you didn't miss the scarcity of tourists.

Glenn,
You think there wouldn't be tourists, but there were some tour buses still. Although the amount of people obviously is nothing compared to summer holiday times. Lots of pro photographers though

Thanks Jim. Funny farm indeed! It was very cold :P
Stunning series. I love the bridge in #2 (train?) that give the scene scale. Not having ever been there it helps me appreciate it even more. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Scott! Thats not a bridge if you're talking about that cut out on the left side. Thats the highway leading down the Yosemite National Park valley floor area.
You should come down here during the winter! It'll be still warmer than where you are in the winter :P
