p.1 #1 · Oregon- midget racing #1 of 2

Taken years ago- for a lark.
But it was quite exciting being on the inside of the track as the midgets careened around on the (I think it was hard-packed) dirt.
They seemed to be sliding almost all the time- and those engines were powerful!

I was expecting to see diminutive competitors possibly racing around a bar in Oregon, but this is better than I had envisioned…

Like these a bunch…

Thanks for the comments, guys. Glad you like them, Jefferson.
Taken in Roseburg, Oregon about 1972.

Looks more like sprint cars and supermodifieds than midgets - the latter were usually 4-cylinder engines, what you show here are V8s. Still lots of fun to look at!

The more I struggle with dirt track racing at iso 6400 the more in awe I am of you guys who shot film at iso 400-800. Unbelievable.

Thanks Chuck and Marty.
Thanks for the clarification, Chuck. As I said- I went for a lark; race car classification is apparently more strictly defined than I was aware. To me, all small, powerful cars that look like this are "midget cars," regardless of engine displacement (shucks- I can't even tell by looking whether these cars are V-8s or not) .
