Taken years ago- for a lark.
But it was quite exciting being on the inside of the track as the midgets careened around on the (I think it was hard-packed) dirt.
They seemed to be sliding almost all the time- and those engines were powerful!
Looks more like sprint cars and supermodifieds than midgets - the latter were usually 4-cylinder engines, what you show here are V8s. Still lots of fun to look at!

Thanks for the clarification, Chuck. As I said- I went for a lark; race car classification is apparently more strictly defined than I was aware. To me, all small, powerful cars that look like this are "midget cars," regardless of engine displacement (shucks- I can't even tell by looking whether these cars are V-8s or not) .
