OK, everybody's doing this scene, but had to get up to Yosemite to see if I could catch the remnant of color.
Drove up from San Jose, leaving just after midnight to make dawn.
Ran into Jim Sanderson at this location.
The colors appear muted, but looking at them closely, the very recent snow dusting is the neutralizer.
But I like the pastel like feel to it, anybody else?
I agree - the subdued coloring, snow and clouds at the top of the dome all give this a great feel. I almost expect to see my breath - it looks that cold and crisp. The reflections also add to the shot - nicely done!
Yes, I like the muted effect. It gives a different look to Yosemite while still preserving its majesty. I wonder if the right 1/4 if the fame is really necessary, and how it might look if cropped just to the right of the first tall group of pines? The might put Half Dome in the center, but I'm not sure that's a problem for this scene...
So what morning was this? I was packed up and ready to go, but still getting a few things done to my new Jeep, so I decided not to go up for this snow fall, I will catch the next.
I really like this shot, it's really cool looking, you handled the light so well.
Thanks for the comments
I want to thank Jim Sanderson for the incentive to go this weekend.
After seeing his previous image & comment about the coming storm/fall colors, I couldn't resist.
Jim this was yesterday. Convinced my brother to go up with me which calmed the wife's anxiety
We left just after noon as I had a veterans ceremony to cover today. I'm seriously tired now.
