I can't believe this Sigma 35 is priced so close to the new Canon 35/2.0. I'm currently rocking the Sigma 50/1.4 as my main lens. Being redesigned, I expect it to be superior to that by far...

I'll be really REALLY interested in a comparison of the 35s (obviously the Canon won't be available for a while), but one of these just might be my next purchase.

This sounds more interesting than Canon's announcement. New Tamron 90 macro with internal focus and VC as well Sigma's new 35/1.4. If that Sigma AF works well and the IQ is great, this could be a kick in the gut for Canon.

The sigma 35 and the tammy 90, especially with IF, look like real competitors. I hope they perform as good as they look.

if sigma is stepping up their game as they claim to be, this'll be more appealing to me than the canon f2 w/ IS

expected availability on the sigma listed as November 15th on b&h...

All very appealing lenses. I'm interested to see the effect of Sigma's new quality control system and whether the focus on that Tamron zoom can get in Canon's ballpark.

Of course, just like the old one.
It's their 60mm macro that is only compatible to APS-H cameras at best.
All three lenses look badass and probably perform well.

that 35f1.4 looks like the cat's meow. my 24L II and 851.8 are in danger of being sold for the 35 and the 90 macro

The tamron Non-VC 70-200 is quite sharp just slow focusing. It will be nice to see what they do with this one.

For the sigma I hope they worked out the wierd front focus up close + back focus beyond 10 feet thing straightened out. And if so I hope they re-do the 50mm next.

Did not see Freds thread, sorry.

I had the chance, to play with the Tamron 70-200 for one week. The sample I got was super fast (AF), accurate too (as far I could see) and it felt great in my hands. Imo the zoomring was a tic to tight and yes - for me it is in the wrong position. But nothing one could not learn to use. The 90 macro looked excellent, too.

I am really interested to see some test results with production samples (I was not allowed to safe images).

The newer Sigma lenses seem to have really good CA control. I love the canon 35L but the purple fringing can get annoying and I am not always able to remove in post. I am really interested in the new canon 35 f2 IS as well, if it is sharp as their other new IS wide primes I think that will be a winner.

I like to have my hand on the focus ring to be able to correct it where I want to have the focus. Changing zoom range is my first step, changing focus if I think its needed my last before pushing the shutter release.

The 35 1.4 should be a killer if it includes the stated optimization software. There is a writeup in the Nikon forum about this. It's similar to Focal I guess but the lens has a programmable chip that can be user calibrated to cover all distances, firmware upgrades etc.. This should cover the focus issues.
