Recently came back from a trip to Orlando, FL. Here are some birds from the trip, shot in Gatorland and Merritt Island NWR. All comments, criticisms & suggestions for improvements are welcome ...
Exposures all look good and that is always a good foundation.
#1 Might have worked out better to isolate each, your bird looking right needs more room in that direction and the gator that is not in the depth of field is very tight in the frame. I do feel the 'tension' of this gator eyeing up the bird though as a possible snack and that is likely what you were conveying?
#2 These Wood Storks have such a neat craggily character to them, give it a little room in your crop at the top
#3 you got a lot into one shot here!
#4 wonderful exposure on this one and a very nice in-flight shot.
#5 if only that bird had turned toward you, still nice though
#1 Yes... I was going for the Gator with its potential (and un-aware) snack feel. I did want the Gator slightly out of focus and looming large in the background but probably went too shallow on the DOF.
#2 Gatorland (where I shot this) was an interesting place for birds. Since the birds seem to hang out here without any fear of humans or gators, a 7D with a 70-200 ended up being too long (!) for some of the shots. I guess it is a better problem to have than not having enough reach
#3 Was going for the Flamingos & Egret on one corner and the school of fish on the other trying to hide from them But the picture does look a little busy.
