Something a little different for your thoughts and comments...

Thanks,

Bob

Absolutely!
Love the abstract quality, overlay of textures/shape and color. The split of the headlamp adds a great point of interest and nicely echoes the play of color and shape elsewhere. And the reds on the right just gives it a bit more life. This would be a wonderful large canvas.
Great job, Bob.

I think this is a definite keeper, good job with the textures.

I normally don't comment on rusting vehicles and decaying buildings, but for a decaying vehicle, this one is more appealing than most. Perhaps because it seems more corroded than rusted?

+1 @ Canvas.

I'm getting a vibe that this is inspired from a page out of Barbara's road tracks scene. Kinda reminds of Picasso-esque + with the way the obscured details are partially reduced to shapes.

Thanks Scott, happy you like it. And yes, I must agree that in this case bigger is (will be) better.

Nice. I think the processing is very effective!

Thanks Barbara,

And props to you for the composition reminder in your earlier image.

I sensed 'something' was there in the basic image but couldn't get there until a composite popped into mind.

Car rests in a field in Shaniko, BTW, just off highway 197, across from the General Store and schoolhouse.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks AuntiPode,

Given the very low humidity in that area, the metal is best described as weathered, while retaining its core strength and substance. Certainly not "rusted" in the sense which most of us in the eastern US understand.

Bob

Thanks RustyBug,

Yes, my focus was more on the shapes as the basic image lacks any particular point for interest other than the light...too monochromatic.

Bob

Thanks Doug,

Every once in awhile one gets some wood on a fastball. That is what makes it all fun.

Unless you are the Cardinals in games 5, 6 & 7.
(i.e. not so much fun)

Cardinals fan for sure, but baseball fan moreover.
Props to the Giants ... they took it to the Cards when the chips were down. (sigh).

Well done! Compelling abstract composition highlighting textures, colors, shapes. Out of curiosity, do you know the make and the year of the car, or is it a truck? It's the car buff in me.

Thanks,

Glad you like it. Not sure on truck, I'll post clean images later, perhaps that will help. I do not recall any distinguishing badges or emblems (long gone I am sure).

Try a 1936 GMC. Looks close (google it) But I don't really have enough of the grill bumper and hood to be sure.

I first thought Chevy but some differences in the radiator grill.

Chevy for sure you can see the emblem. I see why I thought otherwise. The center is mashed in and changes the appearance of the grill from the sample I found. Its definatly newer than 33 and older than 37.
