I sit my camera at small jpg and just used the file from the camera after downsizing. Those no dumping signs are next to every culvert, I could have found a more pristine one to do. Shoot and post color, if a BW conversion is necessary we can get there I imagine it is an uncomfortable experience, I've found insight comes along and, sometimes it just ain't there, no matter how much we want it to be. But, we're not shooting and developing film so the cost is zero for all practical purposes - only cost is the time and fun of using a camera, computer, and software. How many images have you seen of a leaf resting on a wet asphalt surface? I'll bet plenty - how many times have we "seen" that same image yet not really "seen" it? I'll bet plenty.
